The Friends of Long Point in Livingston County actively collaborates with students interested in an internship with our organization. Campaign Development and Management

As we restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time, we would like to do this through exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and Visitors' Center as well as to help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town, it all takes money. To raise money, we will be hosting and supporting multiple campaigns to bring the activities and and raise awareness to the community.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Creating and organizing Campaigns that raise awareness and create funding sources.




Excursion Boat on Conesus Lake in Geneseo Feasibility Study

Our purpose is to restore and preserve the culture and heritage of Long Point Park for the benefit of
residents of Livingston County as well as visitors to the Finger Lakes region and others who use parks.

We are here to work with the Town of Geneseo and help restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time. We would like to do this by helping out with the exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and visitors' center as well as to help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town. The Town of Geneseo's Long Point Park Master Plan has expressed an interest of an organization that is willing to explore the creation / operation of an Excursion boat on Conesus Lake as a potential Tourist attraction. We would like to support the Town of Geneseo, and look further into the possibility of such a venture on

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Research the viability of an excursion boat on Conesus lake.




Conesus Lake Database Administration​­

The Friends of Long Point value the rich history that has happened at Long Point Park, Conesus Lake, and throughout the finger lakes region and more history is being discovered every day. The present Long Point Park historian (Lore DiSalvo) has a plethora of articles, photographs, artifacts, and information but it is a challenge to be able to recall this information easily by anyone else.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Documentation and connections with each article, photograph, artifact, and piece of history to a databaseis necessary to catalog artifacts with proper assessioning and deassessioning documentation and allow for inter connections when information is being recalled.



Artifact Restoration / Preservation​­

The Friends of Long Point value the rich history that has happened at Long Point Park, Conesus Lake, and throughout the finger lakes region. Some of this history was stored at the Walter Kingston Museum at Long Point Park until the building was condemned and destroyed. All the contents were hastily boxed and stored and are in need of rescue. There are many documents and artifacts that tie us to this rich history around the park, the lake, and the community and if not protected, could be lost forever.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Photographing and documenting (in detail) historical photographs, documents, and artifacts; Identify deficiencies in the like, and preserve through high resolution scanning, proper storage, or sending to a restoration facility.





Publicity and event coordinator​­

How our organization is perceived by and interacts with the community is a vital part of our organization. The activities and positive interactions between the Friends Of Long Point and the community across western NY need to be organized, promoted, and publicized.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Assisting the Coordination of volunteers for events such as:

● Parks and Trails NY ­ "I love my park day" (Around May 2)
● "Town Garden Club presentation"
● "School presentations"
● "popcorn truck construction updates and posts"
● Roller Skating Revival

and coordinating the promotion of these and fund-raising events that help support the operation and activities of the organization.



Curriculum Development

The recent interest in Long Point Park and its rich history has attracted students from area schools to learn about local history. When the Friends of Long Point are presenting to school children, we want to be able to offer appropriate materials that are age appropriate and meet the school curriculum.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Development of age appropriate lesson plans and presentations with activities that correlate Long Point
Park and area history to the curriculum outlined by the New York State board of regents. (Required for grades K­12)







Presentation / Media Creation​­

The Friends of Long Point value the rich history that has happened at Long Point Park, Conesus Lake, and throughout the finger lakes region and more history is being discovered every day. The present Long Point Park historian (Lore DiSalvo) has a plethora of articles, photographs, artifacts, and information that is presented to groups of all ages.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

The development and production of recorded history with knowledge and skill with media software and editing to create a Ken Burns style historical video to preserve and present the history of Long Point Park, Conesus Lake, and the Finger Lakes region for generations to come.







Project Manager for Museum and Historical Charter Acquisition ­​

The Friends of Long Point value the rich history that has happened at Long Point Park, Conesus Lake, and throughout the finger lakes region. Some of this history was stored at the Walter Kingston Museum and Visitors’ Center at Long Point Park until the building was condemned and destroyed. The Town of Geneseo is looking to preserve the Walter Kingston Museum and Visitors’ Center and is in conversation weather to build a new facility or re-purpose a pre­existing facility. The one thing this museum is lacking is the state recognition that it is a museum and can be credited with the USNY system and the NYS Board of Regents.

To obtain State museum recognition, the museum must obtain a charter through the Museum Association of New York (MANY)

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Assist in the acquisition and completion of the application process of a state recognized museum charter.




General publisher

Our purpose is to restore and preserve the culture and heritage of Long Point Park for the benefit of
residents of Livingston County as well as visitors to the Finger Lakes region and others who use parks.
We are here to work with the Town of Geneseo and help restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time. We would like to do this by helping out with the exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and visitors' center as well as to help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town. We would like this word to get around.

The use pc skills to design and distribute collateral signs brochures and the like





Business Plan Writing

Our purpose is to restore and preserve the culture and heritage of Long Point Park for the benefit of
residents of Livingston County as well as visitors to the Finger Lakes region and others who use parks.

As we restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time, we would like to do this through exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and visitors' center as well as to help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town. While this happens the operations of the organization becomes more complex and requires smaller divisions to handle the operations that make up the scope of our vision.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

Help define the mission statement in terms of commonly accepted business mission and vision statements.

Apply a proven template for business plans that includes seven sections: Executive Summary, Industry
Analysis, Product Description, Facilities, Marketing Communications (MarCom), Management, Financial

Analysis / Projections. The sections should cover analysis of Customer Target and Demographics, Competition, Strengths Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Draft and proof the seven sections of a business plan for each as a separate division of the organization:

Popcorn truck operations
Museum operations
Friends of Long Point General and strategic operations.

Revenue Development Coordinator
As we restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time, we would like to do this through
exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and Visitors' Center as well as to
help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town, it all takes money.

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

coordinating revenue development opportunities and go fund me type accounts



Social Media Coordinator

Our purpose is to restore and preserve the culture and heritage of Long Point Park for the benefit of
residents of Livingston County as well as visitors to the Finger Lakes region and others who use parks.

We are here to work with the Town of Geneseo and help restore a piece of the park's history gradually / over time. We would like to do this by helping out with the exhibits, activities and operations at the Walter Kingston Museum and visitors' center as well as to help maintain and preserve the park in ways deemed best by the town. We would like this word to get around through all possible forms of social media..

The responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):


Primarily Facebook accounts and additional social media accounts. Students and Friends of Long Point will develop a relationship to meet goals such as building awareness, driving fund-raising sales, and increasing presence.
